Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending Policy

Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending Policy

HOURS:  Monday-Thursday 9:00am - 9:00pm | Friday-Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm | Sunday 12:00pm - 5:00pm

In an effort to expand Internet access and promote digital literacy, Reddick Public Library District offers a limited number of Wi-Fi hotspots as a part of its circulating collection. A Wi-Fi hotspot is a small, portable device that can be used almost anywhere to create a wireless network. Reddick Public Library District’s hotspot lending service allows RPLD cardholders ages 18 and over to check out a hotspot device, capable of providing high-speed internet access for up to ten (10) Wi-Fi enabled devices.

To reserve a Wi-Fi hotspot, please call the library at (815) 434-0509, or stop by the Circulation Desk.

Borrowing Guidelines

  • A Wi-Fi hotspot can be checked out by any patron age 18 and over with an established Reddick Library card in good standing (no fines or overdue items and no history of a delinquent account.)
  • A Wi-Fi hotspot circulates for seven (7) days. There is no renewal.
  • Check out is limited to one (1) device per library account at a time.
  • Overdue charges of $5.00 per day will be assessed for late return of a Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • The Wi-Fi hotspot must be returned to a Reddick Public Library District staff member at the Circulation Desk. It may not be returned to any other public library. If the Wi-Fi hotspot is returned in the book drop box, a $25 minimum fee will be charged to the user. Do not leave the Wi-Fi hotspot on the Circulation Desk if a staff member is not present.
  • Once a device is ten (10) days overdue, the Wi-Fi hotspot will be deactivated. The replacement cost of the Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as all reactivation fees, will be billed to the patron.
  • If any part of the Wi-Fi hotspot kit is not returned, the user must pay the complete replacement cost of the missing item.

Internet Use:
Reddick Public Library District is not responsible for any information accessed or action taken by a patron while using a Wi-Fi hotspot. Hotspot users are encouraged to use safe Internet practices. Using the hotspot to access any online content determined to be illegal or obscene according to federal, state, or municipal law will result in revocation of hotspot borrowing privileges and potentially criminal prosecution.
